Early morning fire leaves family homeless

A 53 year old lost his three bedroom home in a fire yesterday morning.

The incident occurred at around 9.30am at Sakoca Settlement whereby the three bedroom timber and corrugated iron home was completely destroyed in a fire.

The cost of damage is estimated to be $55,000 while the fire is believed to have started from a power point switch in one of the bedrooms. Investigations continue on the case.

Meanwhile in the second fire incident recorded yesterday, a one bedroom timber house belonging to a 44 year old fisherman was partly destroyed in a fire yesterday morning. The incident occurred at Tavarau Settlement, Ba and the estimated cost of damage is $2,800.

Fire is believed to have been as a result of an electrical fault as investigations continue on the case.
