Fiji Airways and Fiji Link Report On-Time Performance for July 2014

Friday, 15 August 2014::Fiji Airways, Fiji’s National Airline, and Fiji Link, its regional and domestic subsidiary, today reported their July 2014 on-time performance (OTP) results.

Fiji Airways reported an on-time performance of 77.3% for July, compared to 79.0% in June and to 80.0% in May. Managing Director and CEO Stefan Pichler is hopeful that the negative trend of June had been reversed.

“July was a month of two halves, really. We had a slow start due to a number of factors beyond our control like medical cases, airport security delays and adverse weather conditions. Adding to these were a few instances of mechanical issues and unavailability of technical crew on the B737. In the second half of July, our team performed well to minimise these but couldn’t catch up completely to get an 80% average for the whole month. But, we have turned the tide. To our guests affected by the delays, I apologise for not meeting their expectations.”

Fiji Link meanwhile continued to outperform, recording 95.0% OTP for July, compared to 92.98% for June and 94.5% in May. Its average OTP so far for 2014 remains 90%.

The on-time performance for both airlines is available on the Fiji Airways website: http://www.fijiairways.com/about-fiji-airways/on-time-performance/. OTP is a global airline industry benchmark which measures aircraft flight departures as being on time if they depart from the gate within 15 minutes of the airline’s scheduled departure time.
