Fiji Airways Group Reports On-Time Performance for May

Tuesday, 10 June 2014:Fiji Airways, Fiji’s National Airline, and Fiji Link, its regional and domestic subsidiary, today reported their May 2014 on-time performance (OTP) results.

Fiji Airways reported an on-time performance of 80.0%, a slight dip from 87.8% announced in April. The result still sees the airline retain its goal of surpassing 80% average on-time performance.

The recently-rebranded Fiji Link continues to deliver sterling on-time performance, with 94.5% for May. It reported 96.0% in April.

Stefan Pichler, Fiji Airways Group Managing Director and CEO comments: “The results of May are driven by some minor mechanical issues with our aircraft which obviously needed to be rectified before the flight, the knock on effect of those issues, and some bad weather. The delays ranged from a few minutes to 4 hours. We strive to out-perform every month, but safety is always first. I apologise to our customers affected by these disruptions.”

He added: “We farewelled Pacific Sun with a last stellar OTP performance. From now on, we expect Fiji Link to follow suit. The brand new ATR 72-600 starts services this week and should be able to contribute to this performance as well.”

The on-time performance for both airlines is available on the Fiji Airways website: http://www.fijiairways.com/about-fiji-airways/on-time-performance/.

OTP is a global airline industry benchmark which measures aircraft flight departures as being on time if they depart from the gate within 15 minutes of the airline’s scheduled departure time.
