FIJIAN PRESIDENT ARRIVES IN NAURU FOR STATE VISIT

His Excellency President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau and First Lady Adi Koila Nailatikau with Fiji’s roving Ambassdor Litia Mawi and HE Baron Divavesi with First Lady Luisa Waqa.

 

His Excellency the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau was accorded a traditional ceremony of welcome as he arrived in the Republic of Nauru this afternoon.

Accompanied by the First Lady Adi Koila Nailatikau and senior government officials, the Fijian President is on a State Visit to the Micronesian nation.

He left Kiribati this morning following a State Visit there and was accorded a farewell ceremony by the Government of Kiribati.

The Official Delegation were welcomed by His Excellency the Honorable Baron Divavesi Waqa of Nauru.

In the welcome reception held at Nauru International Airport, His Excellency Ratu Epeli stated it was an honor to visit Nauru.

“On behalf of my wife and delegation, I would like to say how very honored and privileged we are to be here in your country.

His Excellency Ratu Epeli added that the visit would provide an opportunity to renew friendships.

“This country is not unfamiliar to us, nor are its islanders and we have had close links for many years and for us it will be a renewal of our friendship,” he said.

“I look forward to the next few days that we will spend here with you and I do not have any doubt that it will be a memorable one,” he said.

His Excellency Baron Divavesi Waqa, the First Lady Madam Luisa Waqa, members of parliament and the speaker of parliament were at the Airport to welcome His Excellency President Ratu Epeli and his delegation.
