FIJIAN PRESIDENT TOURS KIRIBATI FISHING COMPANY AND MARINE TRAINING CENTRE

His Excellency President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau watches as an employee is packing frozen fish ready for export.

His Excellency the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau today toured the Kiribati Fishing Company’s processing facilities in Betio, Kiribati.

The President was shown how freshly caught tuna was processed and turned into loins, steaks, saku and sushimetta for overseas markets.

In welcoming the President to the facility, Kiribati Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources Development, Honorable Tinian Reiher, thanked him for his presence and added that it was an honor to have the President in Kiribati.

The company is co-owned by Golden Ocean Fish Limited, the Government of Kiribati and Shanghai Fisheries and has markets in Japan, United States of America and New Zealand.

Earlier today, the President also toured the Marine Training Centre – Kiribati’s leading marine training institution.

“It is an honor for me to be here and I come here knowing the reputation of this organisation from the past and it is an organisation that has an international standing throughout the seafaring world,” His Excellency told Senior Officials.

His Excellency is on a State Visit to Kiribati and is accompanied by the First Lady, Adi Koila Nailatikau and senior government officials.
