First ever soccer clinic kick starts in Nadi

More than 60 children around from all over Nadi turned up for the first ever Nadi Football Youth Academy soccer clinic (as part of Nadi Football Association) at the Nadi Muslim Primary School grounds, today.

Organizer, Javed Ahmed said they are following international standard of trainings.

“We have are following the European, Spanish and Dutch league standard of training,” he said.

Ahmed also said today they are drilling the youngsters the basics of soccer and later up skill them in the coming weeks of clinics.

“We are teaching them the dynamics of stretching and warm ups, developing first touch and controlling the ball, shooting and passing skills and teamwork,” he said.

Training the children, Nadi Football head coach, Kamal Swamy said this has been great initiative shown by Nadi Football Association.

“It’s very encouraging to see the number of turn out here today, especially the support from the parents and teachers,” he said.

Swamy also said he had been suggesting the idea for a very long time and is now thankful that it has taken place.

“This is very good for Fiji Football Association as we are now nurturing the young ones to be professional soccer players in the coming years, and I hope this will continue,” he said.

The clinic will be held every Saturday from 9am to 11am,for both genders ages 6 and above.
