HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge 2014 Launched in Style

The HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge 2014 was launched in style at the Holiday Inn in Suva on Tuesday evening.

In launching the HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge, HFC Bank Chairman, Tom Ricketts reminded the invited guests how important rugby was to the nation and how proud they were to sponsor one of the oldest provincial competitions in Fiji.

“When it comes to Fiji Rugby our stadiums are jam packed and I am sure you will all agree that this sport is a leading sport and is the catalyst to bring our people and communities together.”

“It is my great honour this evening to launch today the most awaited Rugby Challenge of the year, The HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge 2014.”

“HFC Bank is proud to be associated with the Fiji Rugby Union and their strong Brand.”

From its humble beginnings in 1941, the Farebrother Challenge began with five unions contesting for the trophy. 73 years later, eight unions now contest for the coveted silverware vying for rugby supremacy in Fiji.

Ricketts further explained how the HFC Bank and the Farebrother Challenge were connected to the people of Fiji.

FRU Chief Executive Officer, Radrodro Tabualevu thanked HFC Bank’s Chairman, Mr Ricketts and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Isikeli Tikoduadua for making the Challenge Bigger and Better this year.

“Through the support of our Consortium partners in particular HFC Bank – the Challenge is even bigger and better. HFC Banks’ support to the challenge this year will include:

* 25 HFC Bank front-branded jerseys (including shorts and socks) with allocation for branding of sponsors at local union level,

*  10 match balls to be used in preparing for each HFC Bank Farebrother fixture,

*  Preparation funds of $2,000 each – for all participating Unions as well the defending champion,

* $5000 Prize Money to the winning team of challenge,

*  250 to the ‘Man of the Match’ at challenge,

*  Each participating Union will also receive a one off CJP Hamper,

*  HFC Bank is also providing Training T-shirts for all participating teams as well as Bula Shirts for 3 Union Officials,

*  HFC Bank will also supply uniforms for Technical and Match Officials on Game Day.

The HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge 2014 kicks off this Saturday, with current holders Nadroga challenging Naitasiri at Lawaqa Park.

20 September – B Division Champion

27 September – Tailevu

4 October – Namosi

11 October – Vatukoula

18 October Nadi
