INDIAN HIGH COMMISSION CELEBRATES HOLI

The High Commission of India organized a ‘Holi Milan’ function on 14 March 2014, in association with the Pravasi Youth Club.

His Excellency Dr Neil Sharma, Minister of Health of Fiji, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.  The function was attended by more than 150 invitees comprising members of the local Government, political leaders, diplomatic corps, local business community, and families of the local Indian community including Indian PSUs in Fiji.

The High Commissioner welcomed the guests and spoke about the importance of the event highlighting that apart from a religious festival, Holi has social significance and was widely celebrated in Fiji.  The occasion affords an opportunity for the people to come together, meet and greet each other, forgetting past differences.

The programme comprised of a cultural show presented by the faculty and students of the Indian Cultural Centre, and the guests playing with colours and greeting each other in the Holi spirit.
