After years of hard work and preparation, the Nadi College have successfully made a place for themselves at the School IDC finals to be held at Subrail Park on Friday in Labasa. They have one mission: to bring home the IDC trophy to the school.

The team members endured plenty of physical training to prepare for the School’s IDC Tournament. During the lead-up to the final rounds, the Nadi College team managed to beat a top team in the competition, Nadi Sangam, thrashing the side 4-0 which in turn boosted the College’s confidence and allowed them to continue further into the tournament. The team remain unbeaten so far.

The team faced challenges during preparation for the cup competition, and this was not just during the matches they had played. The Nadi College are currently looking at upgrading their grounds and during the time of training, the team had to find other grounds in order train.

The Nadi Town Council were generous enough to lend their private grounds to the Nadi College side in order for their training to progress.

The team also faces some financial difficulties apart from the previous difficulties that they had. The team management is looking to raise $7 500 for the boys in order to pay for their transport, training equipment, meals, first aid and the additional supplies that are needed in order to move on to Subrail Park for the final stages of the Schools IDC.

“We are looking for any assistance from the general public in order to help finance the boys get to the finals. They’ve worked very hard towards this and they deserve to make it all the way,” Mr. Satish Kumar, team manager of the Nadi College Soccer team said. “Any assistance towards this appeal, either cash or kind will be highly appreciated.”

The team are currently training and making their last preparations for the Finals.
