(NATADOLA, FIJI) Friday 17 April 2015 – InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa is excited to announce that their Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course has been awarded a prestigious Diamond Award by the International Association of Golf Travel Operators (IAGTO). This award is presented after thorough assessments of affiliated golf courses to find the best possible experience to the visiting golf traveller.

IAGTO is an organization that carries out golf tourism audits of over 250 courses and resorts worldwide, assessing each course through the eyes of a first-time golf visitor. As the only award recipient in Fiji, InterContinental Fiji credits this achievement to the unwavering dedication to delivery, quality service to guests, the hardworking team, and of course, the spectacular design of the golf course.

“It is a great honour for the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course to be recognised as one of the world’s best courses, and we are proud to be associated with such an achievement,” said InterContinental Fiji’s Area General Manager South Pacific, Mr. Erik Stuebe.

“The IAGTO consists of the world’s top golf experts and to rank amongst the best with this recent accolade is truly encouraging,” he continued.

“Renowned golfer Vijay Singh designed the sophisticated layout of the championship golf course to showcase the breathtaking views of Natadola Bay whilst providing an enjoyable challenge to players of all skill levels,” says Golf Operations Manager, Amitesh Chandra. “Combine that with the genuine friendly service we have to offer, luxurious resort accommodation, and you have the perfect recipe for a unique and unforgettable golfing experience.”

“The second PGA Fiji International tournament will be held in October this year and we are looking forward to seeing the competition grow bigger and better,” adds Mr. Chandra. “Last year we saw fierce competition between Nick Price, Brendan Jones and many others – with Steven Jeffress taking home the championship title.”

The award will officially be given out at the IAGTO Excellence Awards for 2015, which are taking place in Jakarta on April 28 at the Asia Golf Tourism Convention.

The world class golf course facilities include an 18 hole par 72 championship golf course, golf shop, golf driving range, practice chipping and putting greens, and the Vatu Lo Bar & Restaurant.
