(NATADOLA, FIJI) Tuesday, 23 June 2015 – InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa recently recognized, celebrated with and thanked their staff in a weeklong event as part of the IHG ‘Celebrate Service Week’ programme. The week long celebrations involved special activities centered entirely around the staff, their welfare, celebrating their achievements and providing essential services on site such as medical appointments to ensure that personal needs were taken care of.
Celebrate Service Week, held from June 8 – 12 was created in 2010 as a way to recognise the more than 345,000 employees who work at the Intercontinental Hotel Group’s (IHG’s) Hotels and Resorts worldwide. IHG is the management company behind the InterContinental Fiji and has over 4,800 hotels in over 110 countries and territories.
The week kicked off with the management team welcoming employees to work with a traditional ‘lali’ welcome, entertainment, and serving them a special morning and afternoon tea. Management also helped out in serving in the staff cafeteria and basically took on roles to not only be of service to staff but to truly appreciate the work that each member of staff contributed to the overall InterContinental experience.
“The fun-fill five day celebrate service programme was created to acknowledge our employees, celebrate their invaluable contribution to our success; and to pay tribute to each member of staff for their hard work, dedication and amazing contribution to the guest experience that we are becoming more renowned for” said General Manager, Erik Stuebe.
The resort also encouraged their employees to have a free annual health check which assessed their height, weight, blood sugar and cholesterol levels. A dietician was on site to consult with the employees on their results and makes recommendations on how to improve their overall health and offer healthy living choices. Other business centres such as Vodafone, BSP Bank, ANZ Bank, Westpac, FNPF and FIRCA were on site to assess and advise staff on any concerns and questions they may need addressed.
“Recognising the great effort of the team is motivational and we hope that our team understand how much we appreciate their diligence in delivering great service and how much we appreciate their hand work. Through Celebrate Service, we want to positively influence the pride of employees, their sense of accomplishment and their engagement, while developing goodwill throughout the resort and IHG,” ,” Mr. Stuebe concluded.
