NEW BOOTS FOR STUDENTS BRAVING HARSH ROAD CONDITIONS IN THE NORTH

The students of Coboi Sanatan Dharam School in the province of Bua in Vanua Levu were recently provided with gum boots following an intervention by the Prime Minister on his recent tour of the north.

One hundred and twenty gumboots were presented to school management at Coboi Sanatan Dharam School by the Provincial Administrator Bua recently. It’s a move that has been welcomed by both students and parents from surrounding communities including Coboi, Nasuva and Navunievu who use the school.

During Prime Minister Bainimarama’s recent tour of the north he observed students travelling to school in severe poor road conditions. Most students were seen walking barefoot to school and struggling to travel in mud riddled roads. The Prime Minister instructed government officials to arrange for these boots to assist students when travelling to school.

He said that despite this small gesture, it made him realise how important government’s road upgrading program in the north will improve the lives of ordinary Fijians.

“It was a small gesture – of course – but it certainly made me realise what a truly important project this is and how much it will improve the lives of our people”

“The new Highway will benefit everyone  who relies on this route for their day to day activities”.
