Fiji’s Sunergise International and Clay Energy today announce a partnership to improve solar uptake in the Pacific.
Sunergise International, the first pan-Pacific solar power service company announces the acquisition of a shareholding in Suva-based engineering company Clay Energy. The partnership will see Clay Energy providing technical and engineering services to Sunergise, from system design through to installation, maintenance and servicing.
Sunergise International made headlines in December 2012, when Fiji’s Attorney General opened the company’s first landmark installation – a 122 KW roof mounted system at Port Denarau Marina, which is the largest of its kind for a marina anywhere in the world. A second system followed shortly after, at Denarau Golf and Racquet Club. Since then Sunergise has seen a surge of interest in its offering from commercial customers who see value in the company’s offer of risk-free guaranteed power savings with zero upfront capital costs. By the end of September 2013, Sunergise will have completed a further 6 installations in Fiji, including the first residential system; the first off-grid system at Tokiriki Island; and roof-mounted arrays at Golf Terraces, RB Patel Jetpoint, and Roosters Future Farms factory in Ba. The Marina will also be upping its share of green power by an additional 50 kw of solar.

Bruce Clay, a longtime resident of Suva who has a specialist engineering expertise in renewable energy, established Clay Energy in 1998. Clay Energy has since emerged as one of the region’s most reputable professional solar engineering firms, with a strong team of 24 staff, including 18 technical workers. The company has worked on more than 300 sites across Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Cook Islands, Tonga, Samoa, and Kiribati. These projects include a wide spectrum of technologies – wind, hydro, solar – and range in size and location, from small-scale off-grid systems for remote telecom towers, to grid-connected systems for commercial and residential customers. Clay Energy recently commissioned a 228kW solar power system for the luxury Turtle Island resort in the Yasawa Group, which is the largest resort solar power system in the South Pacific.
