Vodafone’s Managing Director Aslam Khan congratulated the flamboyant Vodafone 7s team on their awesome performance in Tokyo. Mr.Khan said that the heart stopping performance by the boys had everyone on the edge of their seat until the final whistle. The try in the final seconds that won us the Tokyo sevens was greeted with the sounds of fire crackers as the fans celebrated the long awaited win.
The national 7’s side which entered an IRB tournament with Vodafone branding on the front jersey for the first time since 2004 were awesome from quarterfinals onwards. They accounted for Kenya and New Zealand in the quarters and Semi finals before taking South Africa to the wire in a pulsating victory.
We thank the boys and coach Ben Ryan for a magnificent feat. “We are back to winning ways”, said a jubilant Mr Khan. We are hopeful for a repeat performance in Hong Kong this weekend. The boys have secured a $25,000 bonus payout after the win in Tokyo. We will continue to empower and support the boys through our joint sponsorship with Fiji Airways so that they bring more glory for our country”, said Khan.
