OUTRIGGER CHEERLEADERS WIN BIG AT BAYLEY’S FIJI CORAL COAST 7’s

Outrigger on the Lagoon ∙ Fiji’s cheerleading squad at the Bayleys Fiji Coral Coast 7s walked away with $1000 after winning the Tappoos best cheerleading squad at the tournament.

Clad in ‘Pacific style’ Stone Age cartoon characters the ‘Flintstones’ costumes, the squad outdid other teams from the Hideaway and Daveta club to win the prize money.

This is the second time the squad has won the competition after walking away with the top prize last year for their ‘naughty nurses’ costumes.

The resorts Housekeeping department made their costumes out of potato sacks, sewing sea shells on the dresses to give it a Pacific look. Coconut leaf crowns gave their costumes its finishing touches, making the women and resort choir master Jonecani look ‘cute’ and ‘unique’.

Outrigger on the Lagoon ∙ Fiji General Manager Peter Hopgood said the resort participates yearly to create and encourage the spirit of ‘having a good time’ at the Coral Coast 7’s.

“As one of the main sponsors for the Coral Coast 7’s our resort really gets into the spirit of celebrating local rugby at its best. Our cheerleaders are an extension of how we want to celebrate everything rugby at our resort”, Mr. Hopgood stated.

“Our men’s team also did very well at the tournament. Even though they bowed out in the shield semi finals the team played superbly”, Mr. Hopgood added.
