The European Union’s Ambassador for the Pacific, Mr. Andrew Jacobs, yesterday hosted a reception to honour and congratulate the students selected to undertake a study period in universities in the European Union.

This year, more than 19 students from Fiji, Samoa, Tuvalu and Palau will have the opportunity to follow their post-graduate studies (Masters and PhD candidates) with full scholarships under the Erasmus Mundus programme, for a period between 10 and 24 months.

Erasmus Mundus offers annually many hundreds of scholarships to students from all over the world to study in EU Universities. It was inspired by the hugely successful Erasmus programme.

“I’ve never been to Europe. It is a blessing and I would like to thank the European Union for this opportunity”,” said William Young a student in Masters.

Meanwhile, most of the students will be doing post-graduate studies in Europe (Masters). Students selected under the Erasmus Mundus are awarded a scholarship covering their full costs.
