8th January, London -To kick off the New Year, Fiji’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H.E. Mr. Solo Mara, today met with Tourism Fiji and UK tour operators at the Fiji High Commission to discuss and strategise on how best to maintain the increasing Europe tourist arrivals to Fiji.

“It also helps that Fiji has been ranked the happiest nation ahead of 64 other countries across the globe in the WIN/Gallup International’s global 38th End of year survey results that came out in December,” says H.E. Mara.

High Commissioner Mara said the meeting was a way of fostering partnerships amongst key stakeholders and allows the Fiji High Commission, Tourism Fiji, Fiji Airways and tour operators to dialogue and discuss plans for 2015 with the hope of streamlining activities to get maximum benefits for Fiji.

It will be an exciting year for Fiji Tourism in Europe particularly with the 2015 Rugby World Cup, Europe Road shows in Paris, Milan, World Travel market in London and a Fijian cultural extravaganza in Bonn later in the year.

Tourism Fiji’s Jane West and tour operators also discussed the need to be good Fiji ambassadors when marketing Fiji as an ideal destination given the extensive range of activities available to visitors. Whether it was adventure or relaxing on the white sandy beaches, there was always something for everyone.

The Fiji High Commission and Tourism Fiji have also mapped out activities for 2015 and also identified areas of close collaboration with a more active role expected from Fijian communities living in the United Kingdom.
