PIPSO appoints new Fiji Board member

The Pacific Islands Private Sector Organisation is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Howard Politini (pictured above) as its new Board member.

His appointment comes after the resignation of Mr Mark Mathews from the Board last year.

Mr Politini is a family man with a varied and distinguished career having held many positions in both the public and the private sector. Mr Politini’s multiple career paths include school teaching, rugby commentating, aviation security and airport management and human resources executive management.

He is currently employed as the General Manager Microfinance, Government & Community Relations at the Bank of the South Pacific.  He has also previously worked for Colonial (1997 – 2012), Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (1989 – 1997), Ministry of Education – Principal of Nadi Airport School (1979 -87) and Teacher at Labasa primary School and Laucala Bay Secondary School (1975 – 1978).

Mr Politini has also served in the Royal Fiji Military Forces Territorial and Regular Forces from 1978 – 2006 and served in the Lebanon and Sinai.  In 1995 Howard was also awarded the Service Medal (civilian) and Service Decorations (military) by His Excellency, the President of Fiji.

He is the Acting President of the Fiji Employers Federation and a Board member of the Government Employment Relations Advisory Board, Director of New World Supermarkets Ltd, Trustee of Fiji Water Foundation, Fiji Gospel Churches Trust, Gospel Schools Council for Education and Chairman of Gospel School for the Deaf.

He is passionate about his favourite sport and following his playing days became a rugby commentator for twenty years for the national radio stations, covering three Rugby World Cup tournaments and seventeen Hong Kong Sevens tournaments.

On his new appointment to PIPSO and his contribution to the Board, he conveyed that he believed he worked for one of the best organisations in the country BSP and FCEF both of which have recently had to exist and develop in very challenging times.

“These first hand experiences thus equip me to contribute to PIPSO and the region with good institutional knowledge and engaging with key stakeholders like Governments. I look forward to the challenge with confidence.”

Mr Politini’s nomination to the PIPSO Board was endorsed by the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation by virtue of his appointment as the Acting President of FCEF.

PIPSO extends a warm welcome to him as its newest Board member.
