- Police continues search for missing man and woman in the North
The Fiji Police is continuing with its’ search for two missing persons in the Northern Division.
The two, a 40 year-old woman of Soqulu in Taveuni and 34 year old man of Rabi were reported missing at sea on Saturday.
Makarita Bogidrau of Soqulu was reported by relatives at the Taveuni Police Station on Saturday whilst Tima Rababre was also reported missing by his wife , whilst out on a fishing expedition on Saturday.
Search was conducted immediately after the report was received with police officers and members of the communities assisting.
Chief Operations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu said it was very important for members of the community to listed to advice.
“We would like to re-iterate our call to the community that it is very important to listen to the advice issued by the National Weather Centre in Nadi,” he said .
ACP Tudravu said the search for the two will continue for some time.

- Police investigates alleged forced prostitution case
Officers at the Human Trafficking Unit are investigating an alleged case of forced prostitution.
Police confirms that a report was received over the weekend on the case.
The elder sister of the victim who is a juvenile reported the matter alleging that certain individuals were forcing her sister into prostitution.
Whilst the Unit has been investigating and prosecuting cases of Human Trafficking involving local and foreign nationals here in Fiji, the present allegation involves a local woman.
The Unit has successfully prosecuted two major cases recently whereby Asian nationals were involved and were sentenced by the High Court.
