Teenage driver investigations complete

Investigation into the incident where a 15 year old of Nadera is alleged to have hit two women has been completed.

As per the directive serious cases of this nature will be investigated over a 12 hour period as it is a safety concern.

It has believed that the 15 year old was picked up by a 20 year old to buy kava.

The 20 year old who is only a learner’s permit holder then allegedly permitted the 15 year old student to drive when the incident occurred.

The 15 year old has been charged with 3 counts. 1st count – dangerous driving, 2nd count – driving without drivers license, 3rd count – Contravening the condition of  3rd party policy risk.

The 20 year old has also been charged with 3 counts.

1st count – driving a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, 2nd count -permitting another person to drive  without drivers license, 3rd count permitting another person to contravene  3rd party policy risk.

They will be produced in court at a later date.

It cannot be emphasized enough that driver’s license holders and permit holders have been legal and moral responsibilities to adhere to the provisions of their license.

They should be making informed decisions and not allow those who do not have the legal right to be driving on our roads to do so.
