Phase 3 of operation Sasamaki commenced this morning in the Eastern Division where a team conducted an early morning raid on a farm located in Nabulini Village, Wainibuka in Tailevu.

Four hundred and eighty four plants believed to be marijuana was uprooted and two people are now in custody for their alleged involvement in the cultivation of marijuana.

Also wanted for arrest is a suspect who has been evading Police since January 2014 when a drug raid was conducted on his farm at Delasese Settlement where more than 70 plants believed to be marijuana was uprooted.

Mesake Tabaka has been evading Police since last year.

Chief Operations Officer ACP Rusiate Tudravu while acknowledging the support of members of the public for providing information about the cultivation of marijuana, has at the same time expressed his concerns and disappointment that someone who has been wanted by Police for over a year is again allegedly involved in this illegal activity.

ACP Tudravu said people should take more ownership of keeping their communities safe and should be forthcoming with information about any form of illegal activity.

“This is someone who is known in his community so to say that no one would have seen him or know that he was in the area is hard to believe, which is why I am requesting those who know of his whereabouts and his movement to come forward and help us locate him”.
