Police Update- 11th April 2013

1. Drugs

Police upon information searched the dwelling house of a 38 year old in Velau Drive, Kinoya and found dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp from his bedroom.

The suspect is in police custody and the dried leaves are send for analysis.

2. Fire

A double storey concrete and wooden house of 42year old businessman in Koronivia

Road, Nausori was completely destroyed with contents together with a private car

registration number ET 012.

The total cost of damage estimated to be $200,000.00. The cause of fire is not known.

Investigations continuing.

3. Drowning

A 42year old, farmer of Tabewa village was diving for beach-de-mer with relatives using gas cylinder and later he was found lying in the boat trying to regain his breath.

He was conveyed to Rabi Health Centre and later was conveyed to Savusavu Hosp and died on the way. Body kept at Savusavu Hosp mortuary awaiting post mortem.

The drowning toll stands at 19 compared to 26 for the same period last year.
