SEPTEMBER 11,2015. Fulton Hogan Hiways Joint Venture (FHHJV) is carrying out essential rehabilitation work on the Queens Road.

Currently under repair is an 800-metre section of road at Nabukavesi village, 35kilometres out of Suva.

FHHJV construction manager, Phil Tombs, said the local work crew is being assisted by a team from New Zealand as they rehabilitate 400 metres on each side of the small bridge at Nabukavesi.

“We’ve pre-conditioned the road, to shape and correct the cross fall so the water can run off it, we’ve added some metal to it so we can get some additional strength into the road and then we’ve stabilized it to 250millimetres deep with cement,” said FHHJV site supervisor, Andy Ironside.

After testing, the section will be sealed and “weather permitting,” it should be complete by the end of the week.

Another crew has similar work on the Wainadoi village section, which is 1.6km long, about 22kilometres from Suva on the Queens Road.

FHHJV maintains the Queens Road in the Central Division on behalf of the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA).
