RAIWAQA RUGBY COMMUNITY COMMEND GOVERNMENT’S COMMITMENT TO DEVELOPING RUGBY TALENT

Members of the Raiwaqa community have commended the donation of $17,000 worth of sports equipment to its rugby club house.

The training equipment was handed over to the Raiwaqa rugby club house this afternoon by Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama.

Commending the government initiative, Raiwaqa rugby club house president, Laisiasa Koroinamua said that the timely donation was a blessing as this would certainly boost their preparations for the Escort Shield competition.

“We have been blessed today with training gear similar to that of the Rabuka gym,” Mr Koroinamua said.

“It is indeed a privilege for a small club such as ours as the training equipment will certainly lift the standard of rugby here.”

Raiwaqa rugby club chairman and resident, Laisa Kaivei said that today’s donation was lauded by parents of the Raiwaqa community.

“As you know, Raiwaqa rugby club started from humble beginnings and we had to struggle to get to where we are today,” Mr Kaivei said.

“On behalf of the parents here in Raiwaqa I would also like to thank the Prime Minister and his government for its commitment to support sports and youth development.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Bainimarama said that government would also assist the Nabua rugby club and the Raiwai Volleyball Club.
