SIX-YEAR-OLD IS LATEST DROWNING VICTIM

A six-year-old child is believed to be the country’s latest drowning victim.

The kindergarten student was swimming with a 29-year-old at the Wainibuka River at around 4.30pm Saturday afternoon when the alleged incident occurred.

Attempts to revive the victim were unsuccessful and he was conveyed to the Nayau Health Centre where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.

A post mortem will be conducted as investigations continue.

The drowning toll stands at 33 compared to 32 for the same period last year.
