Stage set for the 38th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s

The 38th Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens is all set to kick-off at the ANZ Stadium in Suva from today, March 7.

An exciting two days tournament will showcase some good talents and skills as some of the national reps together with the upcoming sevens stars will entertain the spectators with  variety of taste in sevens rugby.

Marist Rugby Club president and Chairman of the Organising Committee, Lawrence Tikaram is optimistic that the tournament will be a great success.

“Everyone is looking forward for an exciting tournament and we will try to give our best in the two-day tournament starting from tomorrow (today, March 7),” said Mr Tikaram during the Managers briefing at the Lambert Hall in Suva last night, March 6.

While unveiling the teams, the organising committee says an alloy of Top Local clubs, 2 overseas teams and many new grassroots local teams will dignify the event bringing prosperity of talent and experience to the 38th Fiji Bitter Marist sevens.

A total of 64 teams will battle in the main (men’s) competition while eight ladies team will participate in the female competition.

To make the event more exciting, six teams will compete in the oldies category.

The Marist Rugby Club Committee is expecting a huge turn-out at the ground as “The search for rio” unfolds today.
