The Ministry of Youth and Sports has set up a taskforce within the Ministry to specifically address issues raised by youth from the divisions and provinces visited by the Minister and his team recently.

The Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Laisenia Tuitubou said that “most requests and issues have been addressed by the Ministry as raised by youth during the talanoa sessions from the end of last year to date.”

“The Ministry continues to receive feedbacks and requests during his visits,” said Hon. Tuitubou. “The taskforce is tasked with assessing, classifying, vetting and tagging actions to these requests especially the costs and budget allocation.”

“The taskforce also liaises with other government ministries and departments to secure assistance from them and also work with them in an integrated manner to address the needs of Fijian youths,” the Minister added.

He added that the taskforce, after analysing the information gathered, will then present it to the senior managers to determine the way “the Ministry will do its business in 2015 and beyond.”

The Ministry’s permanent secretary Mr Josefa Sania said “the senior management of the Ministry will meet again this Thursday to discuss the findings gathered from the visits as prepared by the Taskforce.”

“Some decisions were made during the visits by the minister and this meeting will be a follow-up on those decisions and also confirm the ones that are to be actioned as directed by the minister,” Mr Sania said.

He added that the minister is expected to round up his visits to all the provinces and divisions by March.
