BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – Students from the University of South Pacific Fiji considering a career in hospitality received some first- hand advice from industry professionals during a visit to Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort.

Sales and Marketing, Front Office, Housekeeping, Kitchen, HR, Reservations and Food and Beverage executives all gave presentations that focused on some of the challenges that managers have to overcome in running tourism properties.

A favourite was Executive Housekeeper Tepola Natadra, who enthralled the students with stories of her experiences working at Outrigger Resorts in Hawaii, Australia and Mauritius.

Students were also taken on a site inspection culminating in a meeting with resort General Manager, Peter Hopgood, who offered some guidance on the pathways to follow to be successful hospitality managers and shared some of his experiences in managing large resorts.
