WATER SUPPLY IN SUVA TO BE RESTORED SOON

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has assured residents in the greater Suva area that water supply in affected areas should normalise in the next 24 hours.

Speaking during a briefing at the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) in Suva this morning, WAF chief executive officer, Opetaia Ravai said the main concern for the authority in the Central Division are the Waimanu pump station and the Korovou Treatment Plant.

Mr Ravai said due to a power outage at the pump station, some areas in Suva do not have normal water supply.

“The power outage at the Waimanu Pump Station will affect the whole of Suva if this continues. The Korovou Treatment plant is also off due to power outage,” Mr Ravai said.

“We are carting water in the affected areas and we are getting some standby generators through Kings Road to assist in the water supply in Korovou area, Queen Victoria School and Ratu Kadavulevu School.”

WAF has been assured that power will be restored at the Waimanu pump station today and water supply in Suva should normalise soon.

People in the affected areas are advised to store and use water wisely.
