Champion vs Champion starts this Sunday

The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) 2015 season starts this Sunday at ANZ Stadium with the first round of the Pillay Garments Champions vs Champion series.

Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer Bob Kumar confirmed that Ba as 2013 Courts IDC winners and Suva as winners of Fiji Sun/ Skipper Tuna National Football League last year have qualified for the championship.

The first leg of the championship will played this Sunday with the Capital City side to host The Men in Black at ANZ Stadium in Suva at 3pm.

The Men-in -Black and the Capital City last met in the Champion vs Champion series in 2013 in which Ba defeated Suva 1-0 in the first leg and 5-1 in the second.

The CVC will be played on a home and away basis which will see Suva host Ba at ANZ Stadium this Sunday while Ba will host Suva at Govind Park on 25th January..

Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bob Kumar believes the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion series marks a promising start to the new season.

Pillay Garments CVC will officially kick-off the 2015 season. The current top two teams in the country will be participating and that itself should make things interesting to see who comes out on top.

“We have a very busy season ahead of us and the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion series should set a perfect platform for the remainder of the season,” Kumar said.

The Fiji FA CEO thanked sponsors Pillay Garments Managing Director Narendra Pillay.

“On behalf of the Fiji FA and President Rajesh Patel, we are very grateful to Pillay Garments and their managing director Narendra Pillay.

Pillay Garments has supported Fiji FA for a number of years and it goes to show their concern for the further development of football in Fiji,” Kumar said.

The two teams will be out to snatch the first major title of the new season.Ba has won the title 18 times while Suva is yet to tag their name.Suva as the winners of the 2014 Courts IDC is already in for the 2015 Champion vs Champion series.
