Citywide Youth Network to Organize SportsFEST

‘Citywide Youth Network’ (CYN) an inter-denominational network of Churches, are organizing a Sports Festival for teenagers during the second week of Term 1 holidays.

The SportsFEST will expose participants to sports skills coaching, lifestyle development and spiritual lessons during the 3 day event.youth network

Participants can expected to engage in six (6) sports with 2 sports been targeted for per day, sports are; basketball, volleyball, netball, soccer, touch rugby and 1 more to be confirmed.

The committee has reached out to a few Sporting Federations to assist with coaching the participants and officiating games during the SportsFEST.

Two extra element’s have been added to the SportsFEST (1) is to engage non-sporting participants to act as journalist for the 3 day event and cover stories and various aspects of the event. The second is to engage in a compassion project by adopting the Ministry of Heath’s Dengue Clean-Up Campaign by having participants clean the surrounding Samabula area.

The purpose of the having the SportsFEST are to:

i.            Engage youths with something beneficial during the school holidays

ii.            Creating unity among the various youth groups

iii.            Encourage a healthy lifestyle among youths

iv.            Teaching ‘Life’ principles through sports

v.            and imparting ‘Spiritual’ lessons

The SportsFEST will be held at the Gospel High School grounds from Thursday 8th – Saturday 10th May, 9am – 3pm on all three days and will culminate with an evening praise party.
