Consumer Council of Fiji appoints new CEO

The Consumer Council of Fiji welcomes the appointment of Seema Shandil as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Mrs. Shandil, resumed her duties as CEO on 23 January 2019 and brings with her extensive work experience in the field of Research, Economics, Project nagement and education.
Consumer Council Board Chairman Raman Dahia congratulated Mrs. Shandil on her appointment saying it gave the Council added impetus to ensure consumer rights are protected.
“Mrs. Shandil’s wealth of experience and drive will be vital to ensuring the Council continues to play a lead role in voicing the concerns of consumers, especially as consumer rights encounter new challenges posed by ever expanding digital and technological frontiers.”
Mr. Dahia stated the Council had followed a thorough and robust recruitment process in accordance with requirements of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism. He added that Mrs. Shandil’s selection was made from a highly talented and experienced pool of candidates vying for
the CEO position.
Reflecting on her appointment, Mrs. Shandil said it’s a tremendous honor and privilege to be given an opportunity to lead such an important organization – an organization that will provide her with a platform to be a consumer champion and to continue working towards improving the marketplace
for consumers in Fiji.
Mrs. Shandil has more than 20 years of work experience and has worked for some prestigious organizations like Fiji National Provident Fund as the Manager Research and Product Development, as an Economist at Reserve bank of Fiji and as an educator with the Ministry of
Education.
Mrs. Shandil holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of the South Pacific as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts with double majors in Economics and Education.
