Digicel supports Corrections Service Fun Marathon

Thursday 7 November – Digicel Fiji has thrown its support behind next week’s Naboro Corrections Services fun marathon which is being organized to build a new kindergarten at the complex.

Fiji Corrections Services Yellow Ribbon coordinator Sireli Dausiga said there’s no kindergarten for Corrections Services officers to send their children to.

“There are about 115 families and our survey reveals there are 30 children aged 3 to 5 years amongst Corrections Officers alone, whose parents earnestly desire such a facility,” said Dausiga.

“The kindergarten will also cater for the general public around the area and this will increase the number to 60 children.”

The Naboro Corrections Services needs close to $40,000 to build the new kindergarten and among various other events, they’re organizing a fun marathon which starts in Lautoka next Tuesday and runs along the Queens Highway to end at Naboro on Saturday.

“We are hoping to raise around $10,000 from the five-day marathon,” said Dausiga.

Digicel Fiji presented tee-shirts to the Naboro Corrections Services officers who will be running, officiating and providing awareness during the marathon.

“We are delighted to support the Naboro Corrections officers in this wonderful project that they are embarking on,” said Digicel Fiji’s head of marketing, Ms Sheryl Singh.

“We are also providing some of our brand ambassadors who’ll be part of this marathon. Our support for the Digicel Fiji 7s players who are wardens and will benefit from this facility also contributed in our decision to support this event.”

Dausiga said,” we are fortunate to have Digicel Fiji support us in this project and lend a helping hand as we work hard to provide opportunities for the young children of Naboro.”

The fun marathon starts in Lautoka City next Tuesday morning.
