FIJIAN PRIME MINISTER CONGRATULATES NEWLY ELECTED PRESIDENT OF SRI LANKA

Hon. Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has sent a congratulatory message to the newly elected President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, H.E Maithripala Sirisena.

“I have great pleasure to extend, on behalf of the government and people of the Republic of Fiji, my sincere congratulations to your Excellency on your momentous presidential election victory and your appointment as the sixth President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka”, the Prime Minister wrote.

“I am confident that the trust placed in you by the people of Sri Lanka will be the foundation of inspiration for succeeding the best possible outcomes for the good of your country and its friendly people.”

In his message, the head of the Fijian Government said he looked forward to strengthening the bilateral relations between Fiji and Sri Lanka.

“I strongly hope that we will continue our joint efforts, which we have established for more than four decades, in maintaining an open dialogue based on mutual understanding as well as to further strengthen political, economic and cultural relations between our countries and the region,” PM Bainimarama said.

“I wish you much strength, courage and wisdom in performing the very important and responsible duties of your position as you work for the well-being and good of the people of Sri Lanka.”

“I again congratulate you on your victory and wish you continued good health and success in working for the good of the people of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

The Prime Minister also extended an invitation to his Sri Lanka counterpart to visit Fiji in the near future.
