High voltage cables hinder sewer leakage repair works on Narewa road’ Denarau.

The residents of Nadi raised concerns over the discharge from pipes under the Denarau bridge and including raw sewage on Narewa road that leads to Denarau island.

Residents raised the issue initially on Monday but due to the presence of high voltage cables the water authority of Fiji team could not perform any repairs. As per WAF, their standard operating procedure requires clearance from Energy Fiji limited for safety reasons.

The EFL team have given clearance and repair works had begun yesterday morning. The WAF are also working with ministry of tourism and Denarau cooperation secure funding to upgrade the almost 45-year-old Regent pump station and its supporting infrastructure on behalf of Denarau Corporation.
