Former national sevens rep Joeli Lutumailagi is confident of earning a spot in the IRB National Sevens World Cup, after he has confirmed that he will be playing for the Lomaiviti Barbarians side in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s- The Road to Moscow.

Speaking to the Jet Newspaper from his home in France, Lutumailagi said he is eager to play and show the country his capabilities.

“I have been training very hard for this, and this is my time to go out there and prove what I am capable of, and hopefully get selected for the World Cup squad,” he said.

Lutumailagi said the outcome of his preparations has been overwhelming.

“Right now the outcome of preparing my body for sevens rugby is hundred percent, which I am very proud of. And I’ve also learnt to maintain my weight,” he said.

Marika Vunibaka also confirmed that Lutumailagi will be joining the team.

“We have spoken on the phone, Lutumailagi told he wanted to try out for the National 7s squad for the world cup and wanted to play for the team. I accepted and I’m very happy,” he said.

The Fiji Bitter Marist 7s- The Road to Moscow will be held on the 31st of this month and the 1st of June.
