Lautoka Drug Find progress report

An Australian man remains in custody for his alleged involvement in the heroin bust at the Lautoka Wharf last Sunday.

The suspect is being questioned as investigations continue.

The heroin caught following a joint operation between the Fiji Police Force and Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority has an estimated street value of thirty million Fijian dollars and was hidden inside the tyre of a quad bike.

 

Online Scam  case progress report

A 22 year old woman has been charged with 9 counts of obtaining financial advantage by deception for her alleged involvement in an online scam.

She was charged on  Wednesday December  24  and Police managed to produce her at the Suva Magistrates Court where she was further remanded in Police custody until her case is called again on the 7th January 2015.

Police continue to receive complaints regarding Vakaviti Fashions an online shopping account run by the accused on Facebook. Reports are being received from the Western and Northern Division where people have made deposits of money but have allegedly failed to receive their goods.

Police are also requesting members of the public to be cautious about who they deal with on social networking sites. A fake account can easily be created and people can be duped into losing their hard earned money.

It is always advisable to tread on the side of caution and be wary of the authenticity of such sites before exchanging money.
