PRESIDENT OBAMA’S NATIONAL DAY MESSAGE FOR FIJI

To the people of Fiji:

On behalf of the American people, I offer my warmest congratulations to the people of the Republic of Fiji as you commemorate the 43rd anniversary of your nation’s independence on October 10.

The people of the United States deeply value our friendship with the Fijian people and our shared commitment to peace, security, democratic ideals, and the rule of law.  On this festive occasion, we wish you much success in your continued efforts to restore democratic government in Fiji.

It is my fervent hope that relations between our countries will continue to strengthen in coming years and that the people of Fiji will be blessed with freedom, peace, and prosperity.

Sincerely,

Barack Obama
