Sekove top scores in Australia

Sekove Ravoka’s Australian summer of cricket is off to a flying start, with him top scoring for his team, Cowaramup Cricket Club, in their opening match of the season.

Only days after flying into Perth and making the four-hour journey south to Margaret River where he will be based for the summer, Sekove took his place in Cowaramup’s A Grade side which faced St Mary’s at Churchill Park last Saturday.

Batting first, St Mary’s posted a strong first innings total of 194, thanks to a solid knock of 73 by Benjamin Lloyd.  Although traditionally a top-order right-hand batsman, Sekove also had a go with the ball, bowling four overs but taking no wickets for 31 runs.

With the bat, Sekove was sent in at number four and was the top scorer for Cowaramup with 33.  However the St Mary’s opposition proved too strong, bowling Cowaramup out for 131, and taking a 63 run victory.

Tomorrow Sekove has been promoted to bat at number three in the second round of the Busselton Margaret River Cricket Association’s season.  Cowaramup will face Yallingup-Oddbods Cricket Club at Bovell ground four in Busselton.
