Suva soccer team had a blistering start to the 2013 National Football League season. The capital based side gained maximum six points on the Northern tour last week.
The IDC champions first defeated Savusavu last Saturday 4-1 at Subrail Park in Labasa and then a day later the boys from the capital city tamed Labasa team with 3 clear goals from Sanni Issa while Samuela Drudru netted 2 goals in the win. Suva bagged full 6 points from the northern tour.
The Suva soccer head Coach Gurjit Singh ( pictured above) said the players were reminded that winning will not be easy and stiff challenge would come from the Northern based teams.
“The team was told the importance of winning the National Football League this season as winning the league title would mean booking a place in the O-League. The boys really played well though after having a long journey.”
“We have to take every game seriously as the other teams are playing to be in Super Eight next year, I have told the players of the importance of winning every game they play,” Singh said.
The new signing for the whites Ravinesh Karan Singh was the most impressive player on the Northern tour as he played well on more than one position.
“Ravinesh really played well as I tried him on the last man down’s position against Savusavu and he really did a good work in the absence of Simione Maikali, as he was serving a one match suspension.
“He played striker in the match against Labasa and with good understanding, speed and team work he played gallantly but unfortunately he could not score any goals, he is player who can play on more than one position,” Singh said.
