Nadi, 21 May 2015 – The Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) 2015 will provide a distinctive platform to local fashion designers to market their labels next month. This has been made possible following the Fiji Fashion Week (FJFW) joining Tourism Fiji as a partner for the Expo.

FTE 2015 is expected to play a vital role in connecting local Fijian designers with the tourism industry stakeholders that will eventually lead to readily accessible Fijian Designed and Made garments to the 600,000 plus international visitors that grace Fiji’s shores every year.

“The Fijian Tourism Expo is the biggest event offering access to major stakeholders in Fiji’s tourism industry. We’re excited to be involved with FTE because it’s giving FJFW the opportunity to showcase locally designed and made labels to give these designers the opportunity to network and more importantly market their label to internal and external markets,” FJFW Managing Director, Ellen whippy-Knight.tourism fiji..

FJFW, which is in its eighth year of production, starts next Monday, 25 May at Damodar City in Suva. It is held over five over days with a range of activities targeted to promote the fashion industry in Fiji.

In 2014, FJFW received over 3,000 guests over seven Shows in one week. This year, FJFW have at least 70 designers’ collections ready for the runway and over 100 models who will be part of the show. 85% of designers showing at this year’s FJFW are locally designed and made in Fiji.

Tourism Fiji’s Director of Events, Ms Sally Cooper says, “The Fijian Tourism Expo is all about Fiji and the community. This includes Fijian Made and Fijian Crafted and so the opportunity to partner with FJFW featuring Fijian designers is important for the event.”

“Ideally we would like to see locally made Fijian products in all resort boutiques and this is an opportunity to show case what can be produced here, not only to our international visitors but also local industry. Tourism Fiji is a big supporter of FJFW and the opportunities it creates for the community,” Ms Cooper adds.

FJFW is giving a 5% discount to all FTE 2015 exhibitors and sponsors on all FJFW shows, excluding Charity Luncheon and Film Night.
