National carrier Air Pacific has responded to claims made by a Hong Kong based NGO accusing the airline of “helping feed the trade in shark fins in Asia by transporting them into China”.
In an article published online by Radio Australia, The Hong Kong Shark Association’s Alex Hofford claims they have confirmation from certain pilots that shark fins is imported via Air Pacific.
“We have acknowledged the concerns raised and are looking into the situation,” Air Pacific said in a statement released to The Jet.
“The article grossly over exaggerates the situation and is thus misleading. To describe our A330 as a “thinly-veiled freighter” is totally inaccurate.”
