ANZ provides further support for cyclone victims

CAPTION: Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama receives the $50,000 donation from ANZ CEO Pacific & Fiji, Vishnu Mohan.

ANZ today donated FJD50,000 to The Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to support people that continue to face hardship in the aftermath of Cyclone Evan.

ANZ CEO Pacific and Fiji Vishnu Mohan said: “The government has been in the forefront of rebuilding schools and providing grants to schools that need it the most. They are also helping farming communities with replanting of crops for sustenance and also for trade commercially.

“The road to recovery hasn’t been any easy one especially for those that sustained damages and losses to their homes, businesses and livelihoods. We hope this donation will be of further assistance to an estimated 20,000 people that the government is still trying to reach out to in some form or another.”

The Prime Minister, Mr Voreqe Bainimarama, who received the donation commented, “On behalf of the government of Fiji and especially those communities that were severely impacted by Cyclone Evan, I would like to thank ANZ for this very wonderful gift. This donation will go a long way in helping these communities get back on their feet.”

The donation to the Prime Minister Relief Fund is part of a FJD100,000 donation that ANZ have distributed over the last few weeks.

ANZ’s financial support to Red Cross Fiji will assist in their partnership with Habitat for Humanity to help rebuild water pipelines for those in the Western Division.

Donations to FRIEND and the Rama Krishna Mission will be used to buy seedling for distribution to communities impacted by the Cyclone. The assistance will help farmers with the recovery of food crops damaged by the cyclone.
