Pacific Collective spokesperson Teleiai Edwin Puni said, “Last night’s vote for Misa Fia Turner is a reflection of a party that is hearing, not just listening, to the aspirations of Pacific people in Aotearoa to participate in Government and Governance.”

Teleiai is part of the Pacific Collective leadership supporting the National Party in progressing Pacific people in New Zealand. The Pacific communities are being encouraged to enrol and vote for their Christian and Pacific values, self determination and a better future.

“And that vote goes to To’osavili John Key and the National Party,” said So’oalo Setu Mua whose family had been staunch supporters of Labour in South Auckland for many years.

According to Teleiai, “change is coming to South Auckland with the National Party that represents all New Zealanders; and that includes us Pacific people.”

The ripple effect in the conservative Pacific vote shifting from Labour to the National Party is staring to be felt beyond Auckland.
