A new joint identification card will be launched by the Fiji national provident Fund and Fiji Revenue & Customs Authority in July.

FRCA CEO Jitoko Tikoilevu says this is a new joint initiative between the two institutions, which will allow easy exchange of information between each other and a national identification card for the public.

“Moving forward from today there will be just one card for both FNPF and Tax identification number, we have been receiving reports of fraud that has been used by certain individuals, whereby the T.I.N’s that are issued are being manipulated and this will resolve that.”

FNPF Chief executive Aisake Taito says this method will lift the burden of looking for your Tax identification numbers from the files when needed.

“When you can just pick up your wallet, get your card and you enter your I.D number and there will be only one, so that number you can use both to identify you as a tax payer and also indentifying you as a contributor. In sharing information , intelligence between the two, and this is a further step from the MOUwe already have.

The cards will be available from all FRCA and FNPF centres around the country and in future can be also used as a smart card that can be also used as ATM cards.
