Lakeba meets Dravo

Week 16 of the Women’s Island Cricket Project continued out at Dravo yesterday, with a session on nutrition, some medical screening, as well as the weather turning itself on to allow for a long session of cricket!

Joining us this week was Fijian dietician, Kalasipa, who continued on from the information given by Ministry of Health dietician, Jessie Pullar, by offering the women suffering from a non-communicable disease a one-on-one session about the best way to personally tailor their diet to combat their condition.

The ladies of Dravo yesterday were also joined by some of the members of the Lakeba cricket team, who are in Suva preparing for the Lau Conference Easter Tournament qualifiers to be held next week.  After being welcomed to the village with a traditional sevusevu ceremony, the players from Lakeba gave the ladies some tips with their cricket skills and joined in the practical session.

There are now only four weeks left in the pilot program of Cricket Fiji’s Women’s Island Cricket Project, with week 17 to continue next Thursday.
