Outrigger Fiji supports Nadroga/Navosa Kaji rugby

By TALEI TORA

Developing youths through sport is a cornerstone of Outrigger on the Lagoon ∙ Fiji’s community efforts.

The resort has lent a helping hand to the Nadroga and Navosa kaji (little) rugby associations with a timely donation of first aid supplies. The resort, the proud sponsors of the Outrigger on the Lagoon ∙ Fiji Nadroga Stallions made this contribution as their kajis prepare for the 2013 Milo Kaji rugby competition.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Serupepeli Udre, Senior Education officer Nadroga/Navosa said the Outrigger has always been a proud supporter of all levels of Nadroga and Navosa provincial rugby and sports.

“I’d like on behalf of our kaji rugby associations to say vinaka vaka levu to the General Manager of Outrigger on the Lagoon ∙ Fiji and his team for providing supplies for the first aid kit. We know that it will be utilized well for injuries and though we can’t make any promises on our teams’ performance we know that your help will go a long way towards our success”, Mr. Udre said.

Outrigger on the Lagoon ∙ Fiji General Manager Peter Hopgood said this donation is about helping develop the youths of Nadroga and Navosa through sport.

“We need to look at the opportunities to develop our young kids through sport so that they can hopefully one day represent the mighty Stallions or even the Fiji national team”, Mr. Hopgood stated.

“This is something that we are very passionate about at Outrigger and we’ve been looking for the opportunity where we can help out, but we only help those that help themselves. We’re not about handouts, but what we are about is helping those who show a true commitment to their cause”, Mr. Hopgood continued.

“We wish our kajis all the best in their competitions and we look forward to what our little ones will achieve this week before their big brothers, the Nadroga Stallions take on Suva in the Digicel cup finals this weekend!” Mr. Hopgood added.

Present at the ceremony were representatives of the Nadroga and Navosa primary schools kaji rugby bodies as well as the Ministry of Education.
