Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama visited the Fiji Maritime Academy to see the progress of the new simulation training facility on Wednesday January 28.

Fiji Maritime Academy Chris Executive Officer, Captain Suren Gurusinghe said the simulation training facility is a new concept that has been introduced into the maritime course.

“The training that students undertake here using the simulator is more effective as it is monitored by skilled and trained instructors,” Captain Gurusinghe said.

“Everything is recorded here, we have brought in virtual reality into the school where we can simulate search and rescue operations.”

The Chief Executive Officer also commended the Prime Minister for taking a keen interest into the school and for taking the initiative in assisting in the provision of the simulation training facility.

“I want to thank the Prime Minister and the Fijian Government for visiting us today and for taking this initiative that will benefit the country,” Captain Gurusinghe said.
