Alleged Murder

A 28 year old man is in custody at the Nadi Police Station following the death of his 61 year old uncle last night.

The incident is alleged to have occurred between 6-7pm at Wailoaloa. The victim who was drinking with the suspect and a few others was allegedly punched when he tried to intervene in a fight that broke out following a heated argument between the suspect and another man in his 30s.

One of the men ran to the neighbours home for assistance, however it was too late to save the victim. The matter was reported to Police.

A post mortem is expected to be conducted as investigations continue.

Samabula Alleged Murder

Investigators are continuing with their investigations into the death of a 12 year old girl at her home on Sunday.

Following the post mortem yesterday the case has been classified as an alleged murder and investigators are in the process of gathering more information to ascertain the circumstances surrounding her death.

Vilikes Soko Investigation

The file regarding the death of robbery suspect Vilikesa Soko is still with the Director Public Prosecution’s Office. As earlier stated by the Commissioner of Police, further comments on the next course of action will be made once the file is returned to his office.

Sitiveni Rabuka’s comments

The Commissioner of Police says the Director Criminal Investigations Department is still in the process of evaluating the comments made by Mr Sitiveni Rabuka in an interview with Radio New Zealand.

Commissioner Ben Groenewald says further comments will be made once that process is completed.
