RESIDENTS IN NORTH ASKED TO TAKE PRECAUTION

The Divisional Commissioner Northern’s office has called on residents of Macuata, Bua and Cakaudrove living in low lying areas to take precaution as a heavy downpour is expected in these parts.

Those living in flood prone areas are urged to be on alert and monitor weather patterns.

The Nadi Weather Office says the heavy rain warning still remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and nearby smaller islands as well as for the Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

Therefore, those living in low lying or flood prone areas are requested not to wait for the last minute but to quickly secure their belongings and move to higher ground at the earliest.

Currently, there is very little rainfall in Labasa although some showers are felt in other parts of Vanua Levu and the Lomaiviti Group.
